Our church was built more than four decades ago. From the beginning, the founders of our parish envisioned a church that would be more than a building: a place filled with prayer, beauty and sacred imagery. They dreamed of icons.
They dreamed of a church that would tell the story of our faith through sacred art, something future generations could inherit. For more than 42 years, that dream remained unfinished.
Today, we are beginning to make it a reality. With the blessing of Archbishop and Metropolitan Michael Kwiatkowski, our parish has begun the process of transforming the interior of St. Michael’s Church through sacred iconography.
This is an opportunity to honour those who built our parish, those who prayed here, those who supported it, and those who kept this vision alive. We invite you to become part of its next chapter.
On September 14, 2026, Eparchy iconographers Serhii Kolodka and Pavlo Tsyhanok arrived in Nanaimo to begin the first stages of this sacred work. Their arrival was made possible by the many parish members who prepared the space, completed the necessary renovations, and readied the wall for its new canvas. With this foundation in place, the first outlines and forms are now taking shape. After months of prayer, preparation and generous support, the vision is becoming a reality. With your help, the work can continue.

The estimated project cost covers every stage of the work: renovations and wall preparation, canvas installation, art materials, and the iconographers’ professional work from the first outlines to the finished icons.
